CANDLELIGHT
MARCH: MESSAGE TO JUDICIAL COUNCIL
A group of 16 people representing WCUMC (Walnut Creek United Methodist
Church) joined the Candlelight March in San Francisco on Wednesday,
October 24. 2007. The assembly and march were to highlight to
the United Methodist Church Judicial Council the importance of
full right inclusion in the United Methodist Church. TheJudicial
Council is the "court" branch of the the United Methodist
church and recently upheld a decision by a United Methodist pastor
in Virginia to deny membership to a person as he was gay. This
and other GLBT issues were being discussed by the Judicial Council
during their time in San Francisco.
The Reconciling Movement in the United Methodist church is still
strong and is supported by people from all walks of life. You
can view images of the march on www.ceedtv.com/Reconcile.htm
as well as obtain information on the issues and join in "chats."
