High Definition Family Workshop Helps
Parents Tune-In Their Family Vision
Saturday, August 14
12:30-4:30 p.m.

Is your family a High Definition Family? What is a High Definition Family, anyway? In the words of Sayer Strauch, the renowned Pastor and relationship coach, a High definition Family is “a family that has a long-term mission that guides its decisions, and a short-term vision, a rallying cry, that helps the family to live out its mission and focus the family’s efforts. All families have a mission in that they react to the pressing needs of life based on their individual and family experiences and habits. Living as a High Definition Family will not get rid of the messiness of our family lives, because that is the human story. But having an intentional mission will give new meaning to every decision you face and transform you and your family so that, here a little, there a little, you become the person and family God put you on the planet to be.”
If you’re looking for some new ideas to help you and your children integrate spirituality and faith into your daily lives, I invite you to come to the High Definition Family workshop being held in the Social Hall on Saturday, August 14th from 12:30 until 4:30. Childcare will be provided, and snacks will be available during the workshop. Throughout July, you can sign your family up for this incredible and moving workshop. The cost is only $15 per person, and there is financial help available to those who need it. The great rate for the workshop is made possible through a reduction in housing costs. Sayer will be staying with his Mom, Claire Toaspern.
Sayer Strauch is an amazingly gifted speaker, coach, and friend of this church (he went to high school with Zayne Matthias), so take advantage of this opportunity to find new ways to help bring god into your family life! KATRINA MISSION TRIP A GO!
We are still planning to send a construction team to the Gulfport/ Biloxi region November 6 – 13. Led by new member Chris Lotz, we will focus on repairing one or more of the thousands of homes that have not been touched since that devastating hurricane nearly 5 years go. Without the UMVIM volunteers most of the recovery work in the post-Katrina Gulf would never have happened. At the height of response, the United Methodist volunteers from around the country helping in Louisiana numbered 10,000 per month and there was an additional 7500 per month in Mississippi. Other denominations also sent thousands of volunteers. This was the largest faith-based response ever in US history, but that fact received little publicity. As of today the “M&M’s” (the Methodist and Mennonites) have the largest long-term post-Katrina assistance programs going.
Lets join that wave of United Methodists and change some lives for the better (and change our own lives in the process.) We can earn new skills, visit another region and have some fun. Cost is about $900 per person. Some scholarship funds will be available if the cost is a hardship. LET’S GO!
"PINNOCHIO, the MUSICAL"
September 18 & 19, 2010

“Pinnochio, the Musical” will be performed in the Social Hall by our very own talented church folks. Directed by Bill Toaspern and Carol Morris, this will be a lively production, and if you haven’t already auditioned, call either Bill or Carol to be part of this fun ensemble. This is a great way to stay connected in fellowship over the summer!
